The Women Behind The Brand
We strive to be the business that helps to grow your business. Our team of experts are here to help make you the expert for your clients. So who are we?
We are a proud kiwi company that has bucked the trend of taking reps off the road and strive to put more on the road to help you grow your business. From specialised free training, face to face appointments, flexible ordering and VIP nights run to grow your clientele, our business is to make your business easier.
Importantly we ALL have a background in beauty therapy and makeup artistry so we are all speaking the same language when it comes to what your clients want and what your business needs!
Pip McGregor CEO and founder of Lauren & Louise Cosmetica and Making Faces hails from Canterbury with extensive industry knowledge and a background across all facets of the industry from salon ownership to brand representation.
She currently has a successful micro pigmentation Clinic in Christchurch called Making Faces and knows first hand the difficulties salons and clinics face. “In NZ we sit near the bottom of the world and it creates challenges in sourcing excellent product with great margin because of the huge number of middle men, and the massive freight costs we incur. In the scheme of things we are so small on the world stage- we are often paying a premium to stock fairly standard brands. We wanted to give salons a chance at stocking fabulous product their clients love- all while building the retail side of their business” Pip says.
From an outsiders perspective Pip is a driven and well presented career woman who is well versed in fashion and beauty. A contradiction she says between the reality of her “other life”- a down to earth country girl, new Mum of one year old daughter Charlie, partner to stock agent Matt, Pip is most at home away from the city somewhere remote. I grew up on a farm and still appreciate the peace the countryside offers- but my career is a stark contrast and I love the balance of the two.” She says its the ability to relate to all types of kiwi women that has helped her put together a collection for the many different faces of the kiwi woman.
You can see how passionate she is about this brand and the people that have helped in its formation and Pip says that watching people and businesses grow is one of her biggest thrills across both the businesses. "We are a tight knit group who love what we do and I couldn’t be more proud of our team and what we are creating.”
So what has the hardest part been I ask? There is a long pause. “The quest for perfection and learning to pivot, taking a huge gamble that wasn’t about making money or returns or anything an accountant would want to hear, hearing no eight million times- but in reality knowing that this brand would work and be amazing for stockists. Its exactly what I wanted as a salon owner but I couldn’t find on the market.” So essentially it was out of sheer frustration that this awesome brand was born - to which Pip says with a grin "they do say diamonds are created by heat and pressure.”
Shanelle was born in Christchurch before her passion for riding ponies as a young girl saw her and her family leave the city for life in the country. Shanelle is an extremely well qualified International Beauty Therapist having trained at NASA (The National School of Aesthetics) over 12 years ago. She then launched her career at Total Body Concept Christchurch where she worked for a number of years.
After the birth of her two gorgeous children, Indiana and Alessandra Making Faces owner Pip managed to talk her best friend back into the salon and couldn’t be happier. “Shanelle is one of those rare therapists who just gets it, she is wonderful with people and has a wealth of knowledge. Clients absolutely love her and she has the ethics and attitude we admire here.”
After a year and a half at the salon, Lauren&Louise was ready for full time care. L&L HQ was built at Shanelle’s property so she could give it the time it needed as it began to grow at a rapid rate.
“Although the first few years of a new business can be challenging it has been such an amazing privilege to watch Lauren&Louise go from strength to strength whilst working alongside my best friend everyday”
“I love everything about my role. From helping a new stockist come on board, working with and alongside them which in turn develops long lasting relationships. We are so lucky with our stockists, they are truly fabulous and I honestly couldn’t wish for a better job”.
Social Media & Marketing Manager
Tara was born in Timaru New Zealand but would be equally at home on the catwalk in Milan. Effortlessly stylish and graceful she is one of those beautiful women you can't help but envy. Except for the fact she does not realise this at all and you couldn't meet a nicer more down to earth fabulous girl that would do anything for anyone.
Pip had the luck to hire Tara 5 years ago for her salon in Timaru and have worked in some way with her ever since. She has seen her get married to her wonderful husband Darren and watched her become an amazing Mum to baby Willow, all while still remaining a beautiful friend who finds time for everyone.
Tara owns a fabulous nail salon in Timaru and specialises in Wedding Makeups and was one of the first stockists of Lauren & Louise. Her feedback was integral to the brand, and from this we've got her onboard as part of the team to manage our social media.
To say we are lucky to have her as part of our team is an understatement- Tara has her finger on the pulse and recognises new trends faster than you can say "Kylie Jenner told me so". She's one of those inherently stylish people that keeps our social media look classy and relevant for our salons.
Christchurch North Business development Manager
Born in Christchurch, raised in Invercargill our Christchurch North Rep Anna Wilcox has lived in Dunedin, Auckland and Christchurch with an eight year stint overseas before settling in the beautiful district of Nelson.
Anna is a ball of energy - she has a 1000 watt smile that lights up a room and she passes this passion and enthusiasm onto her clients which is one of the many reasons we love having her on board! She has worked in the industry her entire life and to say she knows her stuff is an understatement. She is a talented make up artist and currently senior stylist at Ursulas hair design in Nelson, and she has a flair for retail and business.
Anna is an avid skier, runner and goes to the gym three times per week (we did say ball of energy!) and she still loves to travel. Getting away in her beautiful camper is a favourite pastime and she often ties in her trips to Christchurch with some beautiful and remote stops along the way which is perfect for checking in with our rural suppliers who don't often get to see a rep face to face.
Originally from rural North Auckland, I have been based in Auckland, Dunedin, and most recently Hamilton. Growing up, I was always doing my friends and family's make up and eyebrows, so it was only natural I progressed into Beauty Therapy. I graduated from The International College of Camille as a Beauty Therapist 10 years ago thinking I would go straight into the beauty industry, however I ended up in promotional marketing and sales right away. I'm now super excited to be rejoining the industry and combine my marketing and beauty therapy background, especially in what I'm most passionate in - Make Up!
When I'm not in a salon, you'll likely find me in the paddocks with my horse. A keen equestrian, my other passion is dressage which keeps my perfectionist side at bay.
I’m really passionate about helping businesses grow. It’s an exciting industry to be a part of and a product I absolutely love. Looking forward to meeting you all soon!
